4-6 Main St. Friendship NY Rehabilitation
This Site is a historically significant mixed-use building undergoing restoration through the Allegany County Land Bank.

The is one of the oldest buildings in Friendship and eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Restoration must comply with state and federal historic preservation standards. All of which we are in the process of finishing through the SHPO phases for approval.
The Land Bank is actively seeking collaboration with developers, architects, and community stakeholders. There’s interest in expanding the footprint to include adjacent parcels like 8 West Main Street and the Antique Barn for parking or additional use.
The property is vacant and deteriorated but has architectural integrity. The Land Bank has initiated stabilization and is seeking qualified developers or design firms to assist with rehabilitation.
Plans include ground-floor commercial space (e.g., storefronts) and upper-floor residential or community use. The goal is to preserve the building’s character while meeting modern codes and community needs.
The project is supported in part by New York State Homes and Community Renewal (NYSHCR). Developers may be eligible for up to 50% historic tax credits and other public funding incentives.
The Town of Friendship has passed a resolution supporting the Land Bank’s Main Street project and committed to future collaboration.
This site is ideal for developers interested in historic preservation, mixed-use revitalization, and community-centered investment.
8 Main St. Friendship NY Rehabilitation
is a standalone structure located just two feet east of the historic 4–6 Main Street building.

8 West Main offers a rare opportunity for block-face continuity, shared access, and coordinated redevelopment. Its adjacency makes it ideal for developers seeking to expand their footprint or create a unified design across parcels.
The Land Bank acquired this property through the county tax auction specifically to support and expand the redevelopment potential of 4–6 Main Street. It is now part of a multi-parcel revitalization strategy.
The Land Bank holds full ownership. The structure requires similar rehabilitation as 4-6 Main St., but retains a viable layout for first-floor commercial use and second-floor residential. It is not intended for complete demolition or conversion to parking.
This site complements the historic restoration next door and offers flexibility for retail, office, studio, or service-based commercial use on the ground level, with residential or live-work space above. Its standalone status allows for independent or integrated development.
The property is vacant and deteriorated but has architectural integrity. The Land Bank has initiated stabilization and is seeking qualified developers or design firms to assist with rehabilitation.
Developers working on 4–6 Main can incorporate 8 Main into their plans for shared utilities, coordinated façade improvements, or expanded tenant offerings. Together, the two buildings form a strong anchor for Main Street renewal.
